While the casino staff has been working hard to control the damage by handing out water bottles and oranges to its customers, this has done little to appease the disgruntled hotel guests
Sahara Las Vegas, one of the famed Las Vegas Strip properties, has baffled its guests with the lack of running water because of an incident. According to social media reports, some people have found themselves flushing toilets with buckets full of pool water.
Sahara Ran Dry
The casino resort first encountered water-related issues on Wednesday, causing issues to hundreds of guests. Unable to take a shower, wash their hands or even flush their toilet, angry Vegas visitors took off to social media to vent their frustrations.
While the casino staff has been working hard to control the damage by handing out water bottles and oranges to its customers, this has done little to appease the disgruntled hotel guests.
Las Vegas Locally, a page dedicated to sharing “interesting, strange and useful stuff” from the Vegas Valley, has been closely following the developing situation. In a short video post, the page showed that, as of October 24, the situation still hadn’t been resolved.
According to Las Vegas Locally, some customers have been resorting to filling up buckets with water from the pool and using them to flush their toilets. Other, less patient ones, however, have resorted to booking a room elsewhere, complaining about the excrement-filled toilets and the casino hotel staff’s insufficient effort to get the situation under control.
Water Lines Restored
On Thursday, casino officials published an official statement on the matter, apologizing for the inconvenience of the water stoppage. They attributed the issue to survey work being carried out by a contractor that resulted in a breached water line.
Sahara is working diligently to resolve the issue and is taking measures to assist guests with other needs they may have in the meantime.

Sahara officials confirmed that guests will receive complimentary bottled water as an apology, as well as complimentary refreshments and food items in the lobby since the restaurant remained closed because of the water stoppage.
Several hours later, the casino resort issued an update on the matter, saying that the water line had been repaired and that water service was restored to all hotel rooms and restrooms. Casino officials added that select restaurants, including Bazaar Meat, Balla Italian Soul, The Noodle Den and Chickie’s & Pete’s are expected to reopen on October 25.
We are enormously grateful to our guests for their patience and our Team Members for their hard work and commitment to delivering SAHARA’s signature hospitality during the process.

Not everyone was as soft-spoken as the Sahara officials though. Las Vegas aficionado Chris reposted Sahara’s statement, somewhat crassly noting that “Shitters are back online.”
In the meantime, the casino hotel just announced its decision to shut down its poker room and replace it with more slots.
