Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto, one of Canada’s biggest casinos, has unveiled a major partnership with poker specialist GGPoker. Under the agreement, the latter company will enhance the overall poker experience at the property, cementing its position as a leading destination for gaming.
The Casino’s Poker Room Will Receive an Upgrade
Per the agreement, GGPoker will become the official sponsor of Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto’s cutting-edge poker area, The Poker Room.
The partnership will result in an overall upgrade to the room, which will see the customer experience enhanced with high-definition TV screen, fast WiFi and a players’ lounge.
These additions will make Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto’s poker offering even more attractive, allowing it to retain its position as one of the best casinos for players in Ontario and Canada as a whole.
The CAD 1 billion ($690 million) property opened in June 2023 and offers some 328,000 square feet of gaming space, as well as a 400-room hotel and multiple dining and entertainment facilities. In addition to gambling, visitors can enjoy an indoor pool, a 5,000-seat theater and a live events hall, among other things.
Great Canadian Toronto Will Host Exclusive WSOP Tournaments
In the meantime, the casino will become the only destination in the Canadian province that will host World Series of Poker (WSOP) tournaments.

Casino Toronto is no stranger to WSOP events. Last year, it hosted the first WSOP Circuit event ever to take place in Toronto. The tournament was the culmination of the casino’s collaboration with GGPoker and took 11 days to finish, welcoming some 6,000 players. The event had a mouth-watering prize pool of CAD 5.5 million, up from an initial estimate of CAD 3.9 million.
Cementing the Casino as a World-Class Poker Hub
Great Canadian and GGPoker officials commented on the new deal, expressing excitement about this tie-up. According to Michael Kim, Great Canadian Entertainment’s executive vice president, allying with GGPoker will allow Great Canadian Toronto to up the ante on its poker offerings.
Kim added that players will receive access to top tournaments and rewards, ensuring that the property remains the “go-to destination for a world-class poker experience in the city.”
Sarne Lightman, GGPoker’s managing director, was likewise excited about the new arrangement, saying that it combines the best of live and online poker. Lightman added that the new agreement will offer Great Canadian Toronto players premier tournaments and exciting rewards. He echoed Kim’s sentiment that the deal will solidify the casino and Ontario as a whole as a “hub for world-class poker.”
In other news, recent rumors suggested that the GGPoker platform was planning to restrict access to $25/$50 games.
