An Arizona resident kicked off 2025 with a lucky break snagging a $112 million Mega Millions jackpot. This big win happened through the Jackpocket app setting a record as the biggest prize ever won using an online lottery ticket delivery service.

Lucky Ticket Marks First Jackpot of 2025 and Arizona’s Second-Biggest Prize

The lucky ticket, bought for the Mega Millions draw on January 17, hit all six numbers: 8, 10, 37, 54, 69, and the gold Mega Ball 22. This win stands out not just for its size but also for being the first Mega Millions jackpot of the year and the second-biggest lottery prize in Arizona’s history.

Jackpocket, an app for lottery ticket delivery, started in Arizona in 2023. It lets people buy tickets online without going to stores. Representatives from Jackpocket said this win is a big deal showing more people are using the app.

Peter Sullivan, senior vice president for Lottery at Jackpocket’s parent company DraftKings, commented: “This is a transformative moment in lottery history, marking the largest jackpot ever won from a ticket ordered using a lottery courier service. As more customers turn to apps like Jackpocket to order their lottery tickets, we are thrilled to be part of this groundbreaking moment.”

Alec Thomson, executive director of the Arizona Lottery, felt thrilled about the win. He pointed out that digital platforms like Jackpocket have an influence on modernizing lottery participation while still backing the state’s network of over 3,500 physical retailers. Thomson also stressed the wider benefits of lottery earnings, which fund key programs and services across Arizona communities.

Americans Now Prefer the Ease of Mobile App Lottery Ticket Purchases

Recent patterns show a change in how Americans interact with lotteries. A study found that 40% of people who bought lottery tickets in the past six months used mobile apps or websites showing a growing liking for ease and access.

The Arizona Lottery has confirmed that someone bought the winning ticket through Jackpocket’s team-up with a local store in Tempe. This shows how well digital and old-school lottery systems work together. The winner is unknown so far, but they can go to an Arizona Lottery office to get their prize.

Right now, you can use Jackpocket in 19 jurisdictions across the United States. It lets you play Powerball, Mega Millions, and games specific to each state online. In some states, including Arizona, you can buy digital scratch-off tickets on the app. This big win proves that Jackpocket keeps its promise to give lottery fans a safe and easy way to play.

In February 2024, DraftKings bought Jackpocket for $750 million. This purchase boosted DraftKings’ standing in the gaming and betting world. Jackpocket known for its cutting-edge and dependable lottery services, is now part of DraftKings’ system. Executives from both companies stressed their plans to grow, bring in new ideas, and give more value to customers and shareholders.
