Caesars Entertainment representatives have announced that the world-famous Mr Chow Chinese restaurant at Caesars Palace is closing after serving some of the most lavish dishes for a decade.

Mr Chow at Caesars Palace Is Closing Doors

As of May 17, online reservations for the popular establishment will not be accepted, effectively marking the first step to the eventual closure of the restaurant. The representative did not specify whether Mr Chow would be replaced or what might take its place.

During its ten years of operation, Mr Chow has hosted multiple celebrities from around the globe, just like it has in its many other venues in places like London, Beverly Hills, New York, and Miami. To go along with its high-life visitors, the restaurant has had to innovate a lot in the culinary world, creating some of the strangest and most extravagant dishes ever.

One more famous (or even infamous) dish is a filet priced at $1,000. The indulgent dish features an 8- to 10-ounce cut of premium beef, encrusted with black pepper and deep-fried to perfection before being adorned with 24-karat gold leaf. The filet is then sliced into medallions and artfully arranged atop a rich pool of Mr Chow’s signature black pepper sauce.

To elevate the opulence, the dish is crowned with a generous serving of Petrossian Tsar Imperial Ossetra caviar. The experience is completed with a flute of chilled Krug Grand Cuvée Brut Champagne, adding a sparkling touch to this extravagant culinary presentation.

Mr Chow Has a Rich History

Mr Chow did not come up with such extravagant dishes overnight. In fact, the upscale restaurant’s legacy goes back to 1968 when Michael Chow, son of Chinese Peking Opera Grand Master Zhou Xinfang, opened the first venue in London. From the beginning, however, the restaurant attracted many celebrities such as The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, and Jeanne Moreau.

In the 70s, the popular chain expanded into the US with the first venue in the country opening in 1974 in Beverly Hills, California. Some of its most popular guests included Clint Eastwood, Eartha Kitt, Billy Wilder, Anjelica Huston, and many more.

Over the next decades, the Mr Chow chain expanded further, opening locations in different cities around the US and abroad. Finally, in late 2015, Caesars Palace became a host for the popular restaurant chain, hosting multiple celebrities. This poses the question of why Mr Chow will be closing its Las Vegas location and what will replace it, if anything. However, Caesars Palace has not revealed any details at the time of writing this article.
