Light & Wonder has partnered with Mecca Bingo to modernise all of the latter’s 50 UK-based venues, with plans to add 850 new terminals, upgrade 645 T8 cabinets, and introduce the Videobet platform
Popular gaming content provider Light & Wonder has inked a major deal with Mecca Bingo to refresh and future-proof the gaming experience across all 50 of Mecca’s UK venues.
Important Changes Coming
The agreement will see a full-scale hardware upgrade and the introduction of new gaming systems aimed at improving performance, consistency, and compliance.
As part of the rollout, Light & Wonder is supplying 850 new Equinox terminals and revamping 645 of Mecca’s existing T8 cabinets.
The T8s will be upgraded with Mk8i hardware, ensuring they’re capable of supporting expanded content libraries and running smoothly over the long term.
In addition to the hardware improvements, Mecca will also be implementing Light & Wonder’s Videobet platform across its venues.
This platform will also play a major role in preparing for the upcoming regulatory changes to the gambling landscape, making the transition more streamlined and assisting Mecca with staying ahead of all compliance requirements.
Player Experience Upgrades
The partnership will not only focus on modernising infrastructure, but also on unifying the player experience for players. The update ensures a consistent hardware setup while maintaining compatibility with games in the B3, B4, and Category C categories.
Players can already try out titles like Rainbow Riches Blazing Lock, which are now live on the upgraded machines and reportedly performing well.
Iain Graham, Slots director at Mecca Bingo, praised the execution of the project: “From planning to installation, Light & Wonder’s professionalism and meticulous attention to detail have been exceptional.”
Graham added that the “uplift in revenue” was already noticeable while expressing excitement “for what the future holds with Light & Wonder as a trusted collaborator.”
The announcement comes amid a strong financial year for Light & Wonder, which recently completed an $850 million acquisition of Grover Gaming’s charitable assets in the US. The company also posted $774 million in revenue for Q1 2025, marking its 16th straight quarter of year-on-year growth.
Commenting on the Mecca partnership, Wayne Ellard, vice president and managing director for EMEA at Light & Wonder, said: “This upgrade gives [Mecca’s] venues a strong foundation for the future while improving the player experience across the board.”
With early signs pointing to increased player engagement and revenue, both companies appear well-positioned to navigate the evolving UK gaming market together.
