Allwyn UK noted that its latest accreditations highlight its unwavering commitment to best responsible gaming practices
Allwyn UK, the British branch of the Czech lottery powerhouse Allwyn, announced that it has achieved the European Lotteries’ (EL) Responsible Gaming Certification. In addition to that, the company achieved Level 4 of the World Lottery Association’s (WLA) Responsible Gaming Framework.
The Accreditations Set Allwyn Apart from Its Competitors
Allwyn UK, which is the current operator of the UK National Lottery, noted that its latest accreditations highlight its unwavering commitment to best responsible gaming practices. The EL’s certification is a significant feat that reflects the company’s efforts to shield players from harm and offer products that are responsible and sustainable.
Allwyn recognized the importance of continued effort, vowing to keep on fighting to protect its players from harm, via a variety of initiatives. Among other things, the company will continue its program to protect customers from harm and prevent underage players from accessing gambling products.
Allwyn sports robust safety standards and a vast array of RG tools, allowing its 11.1 million players to play safely and responsibly. As part of its commitments, the company also offers personalized interventions for at-risk players.
Allwyn Remains Bullish on Protecting Players
In May last year, Allwyn UK launched Operation Guardian, an expanded mystery shopper and knowledge-check program that tested the compliance of National Lottery shops.
As part of the initiative, some 8,200 mystery shoppers visited National Lottery retailers across the UK. The objective was to make sure that retailers do checks on players who appear to be underage.
The results showed that a staggering 92.3% of all National Lottery retailers did correctly ask for ID proof. In addition, Allwyn noted that, thanks to this initiative, retailers have been encouraged to sell lottery products even more responsibly and safely.
Allwyn noted that 43,500 of its retail partners have agreed to adhere to Challenge 25, which requires shops to check every National Lottery customer who looks under the age of 25.
In addition to Operation Guardian, Allwyn also introduced a 10 Scratchcard per transaction limit. Allwyn UK also joined the National Council on Problem Gambling’s Gift Responsibly Campaign as a Level 2 member.
Last year, Allwyn also introduced a QR code instantly directing players to information on support and implemented enhanced retailer training to teach staff to stop underage gaming and excessive play.
The Work in This Area Is Never Finished
Andria Vidler, CEO of Allwyn UK, praised her team for achieving the EL and WLA accreditations in just over a year after taking over The National Lottery.
National Lottery games are specially designed to be safe and secure, ensuring they don’t appeal to underage or vulnerable players. However, with over 30 million people routinely playing National Lottery games – raising over £30 million a week for Good Causes in the process – it’s crucial that we continue to do everything we can to prevent underage and excessive play.

Vidler added that, although Allwyn is happy with the accreditation, it will not stop there since responsible gaming is a continued effort.
In other news, IGT Lottery also achieved the European Lotteries’ (EL) Responsible Gaming Certification.
