(Это будет достаточно вольный перевод серии статей, написанных Eric Sink под впечатлением книги The 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing)

Закон лидерства показывает как важно быть номером первым в своей категории. Люди обычно знают кто главный игрок, но часто не могут вспомнить даже имени второго номера.

Ries и Trout (авторы книги) также утверждают, что тот, кто первым появился в определенной категории, как правило становится и первым игроком в ней. Этому довольно много хороших примеров. Крайслер выдал на гора первый миниван и до сих пор первый в этой категории. Однако, Эрик думает, что авторы преувеличивают важность статуса зачинателя категории, особенно в софтверном бизнесе. Уж больно много исключений.

  • Microsoft Excel не был первым табличным редактором, но явно номер первый в этой категории сегодня.
  • Visual Studio не было первым IDE, но ледирует сегодня в этой категории.

  • Перл не был первым абсолютно нечитаемым языком программирования, но сегодня явно является лидирующем в этой категории .  :-)

  • В любом случае, основной мыслью остается: Быть номером первым в какой-то категории очень здорово, даже если для этого придется ихобрести новую категорию.  :-)
