The gaming and hospitality major continues to support various causes, and particularly focuses on backing responsible gambling education and research
Caesars Foundation, the charity arm of the gaming & hospitality company, has allocated another $200,000 grant to the International Center for Responsible Gaming. The money will be used to further support research and education programs that ultimately seek to reduce gambling-related harm while also improving and strengthening existing safeguards.
ICRG Receives Extra Funding to Spearhead Seminal Work
The ICRG will be able to fund a number of its initiatives and programs this way, including those undertakings that specifically focus on competitive research and educational dissemination. The organization is seeking to better understand the biological and psychological mechanics of gambling addiction, which will further enhance protection for players and help inform the industry and lawmakers on what the best course of action is.
The gambling industry has faced a lot of pushback. Lawmakers are keen to tax it with higher levies, while some legislators have been pushing for much tougher laws on advertising, for example.
Around $180,000 of the money will be used to advance co-occurring mental health conditions, boost treatment innovation, and help with public messaging, as well as strengthen gambling-related policies. Another $20,000 will be allocated to the 26th annual ICRG Conference on Gambling Addiction, which has transformed itself into one of the leading platforms for discussing issues related to problem gambling.
ICRG President Arthur Paikowsky has welcomed the opportunity to see his organization receive financial backing that can be good to good use.
“This generous commitment from Caesars Foundation underscores their ongoing leadership in corporate responsibility and dedication to advancing the science of responsible gambling. Together, we are helping ensure that policies, treatment options, and prevention strategies are rooted in rigorous and independent scientific evidence.”
Ensuring the Industry Is at the Forefront of Understanding Gambling Addiction
Paikowsky explained that the ICRG could collaborate with the gambling industry as a way to move standards forward. As to Caesars Entertainment, the company’s SVP for corporate and social responsibility and internal communications, Kiersten Flint, welcomed the opportunity to see his company once again support the ICRG and help bolster the organization’s ongoing research and education on problem gambling.
“Our partnership with the ICRG spans more than 25 years, and we are honored to fund their important work. At Caesars, we prioritize making our responsible gaming policies and programs accessible to all of our customers. The ICRG’s high-quality research on gambling disorders and responsible gambling helps us and others prevent gambling-related harm,” Flint added.
The ICRG has been a trailblazer in educating stakeholders on problem gambling and gambling-related harm and pushing for improved standards across the board.
