The players had to settle with $1 million prize each after nearly missing Wednesday’s jackpot
Wednesday marked the latest drawing of the popular American lottery game, Powerball. While many lottery players tried their luck for the hefty $409 million jackpot, nobody matched correctly all the winning numbers.
Saturday’s Jackpot Estimated at $437 Million
To win the Powerball jackpot, players had to match correctly all white balls 4, 30, 39, 44, 60, and the red Powerball number 11. With the odds of winning the jackpot being 1 in 292.2 million, no player matched all winning numbers for the jackpot prize.
The survival of the jackpot allows it to continue growing. With the next drawing scheduled for Saturday, October 19, 2024, the estimated jackpot from Powerball is the mind-blowing $437 million. Alternatively, if a player wins the jackpot on the upcoming drawing and prefers the cash option, which is awarded instantly, they would be looking at $210.3 million, another life-changing sum.
The grand prize from the popular lottery game surpassed $400 million considering that the latest win was back in August. This is when a single ticket holder from California hit the Powerball jackpot for a $44.3 million payday.
Million-Dollar Prizes Go to Four Players
While the Powerball jackpot survived, several fortunate players won million-dollar prizes. From Wednesday’s drawing of the lottery game, a total of four people matched five white balls for a prize of $1 million each. According to Powerball, there were two ticket holders in Illinois, one in Washington and one in California, with each collecting a tier-two prize of $1 million. Regretfully, nobody paid extra for a $2 million Power Play prize on the latest drawing.
On the other hand, nearly two dozen lottery players matched four white balls along with the red Powerball on Wednesday. For four lucky players, that guess brought a hefty $100,000 prize each, while another 18 lucky individuals won the standard $50,000 prize each.
Within the lower-tier prizes, a total of 95 people collected a $200 Power Play prize each for matching four winning numbers from the recent drawing of Powerball. Some 260 matched the same number of winning balls to secure the standard $100 prize.
