A couple in California was arrested after it was discovered that they had stolen from the woman’s employer – a casino
Police in the Bay Area have arrested a wife and husband, with the wife accused of embezzling money from her employer, a casino, and aided by her spouse.
The alleged criminal activity has been going on for several years at the very least, after an investigation by police bore out a previously voiced suspicion by the property.
Couple Earned Possibly Hundreds of Thousands by Embezzling from Casino
The couple, one Ellen Mangundayao, who was employed at the Casino M8trix card room, and her husband, Mark Mangundayao, had been stealing chips from the facility. Or, rather, Ellen was stealing the chips and then reselling them with the help of her husband.
The casino contacted police to investigate the potential theft of casino chips, which the establishment argued had been going on since early May. In reality, the police’s investigation alleges that the couple may have been at it for years.
Police acted quickly in the matter and obtained the necessary arrest warrants to bring the couple to justice, following through with their arrests. Upon searches conducted at the couple’s two homes, more than $75,000 in cash and $10,000 worth of stolen chips were found.
At the time of the arrest, Ellen had $4,750 worth of chips on her person.
