The series is based on the Apple Original Podcast of the same name and will feature eight hour-long episodes
Apple TV+ plans to bring the amazing tale of Las Vegas icons Siegfried & Roy to viewers, with Jude Law and Andrew Garfield taking on the parts of the well-known magicians in a new mini-series called Wild Things.
Wild Things to Explore Siegfried & Roy’s Legacy and Tragic Fall
The project takes its cue from the Apple Original Podcast with the same title and will consist of eight one-hour episodes. It aims to tell the story of the pair’s amazing climb from modest roots to worldwide fame as well as the personal and work-related hurdles that molded their lives. Law is set to play Siegfried Fischbacher, while Garfield will take on the part of Roy Horn. Both actors will also work as executive producers for the series.
They plan to start filming Wild Things this autumn. John Hoffman, who helped create Only Murders in the Building, will be the showrunner, director, and producer. Matt Shakman (WandaVision, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters) will direct the first episode and also produce the series.
The series aims to explore the energetic teamwork between Siegfried and Roy, not just as groundbreaking performers who made Las Vegas a family-friendly spectacle but also as complicated people dealing with fame, illusion, and identity. Their journey took a sad turn in 2003 when Roy suffered severe injuries during a live show from his cherished white tiger Mantacore. This event ended their stay at the Mirage, which had lasted 13 years and brought in over $500 million in ticket sales.
From Cruise Ship Beginnings to Las Vegas Legends
Siegfried and Roy crossed paths in 1957 while working on a cruise ship. Their special mix of magic and exotic animals soon made them regulars in the Las Vegas entertainment world, leading to a $30 million custom-built theater at the Mirage Hotel and Casino. They had an impact on reshaping the city’s image in the 1990s, ushering in a new age of big-budget, family-friendly shows.
Imagine Entertainment is working to develop the show, with big names in the industry like Brian Grazer, Kristen Zolner, and Natalie Berkus serving as executive producers. Will Malnati and Steven Leckart, who created the original podcast, will also join the production team. Jude Law and Andrew Garfield bring impressive track records to the project. Both actors have multiple Oscar nominations under their belts. Their involvement is likely to spark a lot of buzz as the series gets ready to explore one of the most unusual and mysterious partnerships in show business.
