The UK’s easyGroup, universally known for its portfolio of brands that most famously includes budget airline, easyJet, has partnered with peer-to-peer betting exchange, Matchbook, to launch the new easyBet sports betting brand.
easyGroup has pointed out that despite others in the betting space choosing to use the ‘easy’ name, this launch marks the authentic brand’s first entry into sports betting, with infringement cases pursued against those attempting to make a false connection.
Partner Matchbook has established a management team and implemented compliance and regulation protocols, enabling easyBet to offer markets for football, horseracing, cricket, tennis and other sports.
Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, Founder of easyJet, says: “We are delighted to welcome easyBet.net to the ‘easy’ family of brands which is a natural new market to complement our other large consumer brands in the UK and Ireland.
“Launched at the beginning of October 2024, easyBet offers peer-to-peer betting with the aim of giving customers fairer odds than traditional bookmakers.
“easyBet allows players to bet on sports events – backing what they think will win or laying what they think will lose. We believe this model offers fairer odds to the consumer.”
Malcolm Graham, Matchbook CEO, adds: “Matchbook is delighted to be partnering with the easyGroup to offer its betting exchange product. The ‘easy’ brand is renowned for consistently supplying quality and value to its customers.
“easyBet.net offers its customers industry-leading odds across a wide range of sports and geographic markets, delivering a top-tier user experience.
“We are also thrilled that we will be supporting Stelios’ philanthropic activities via the license fees being paid to easyGroup.”
