A lucky lottery player from Kentucky has won a huge prize after selecting the same lottery numbers for years. After ten years of persistence, the man is finally living “the dream.”

Consistency Was the Key

Billy Glenn said that he has been playing the Kentucky Lottery for years, always selecting the same numbers. He admitted that he has been playing Lucky For Life since the game launched in 2015 and has remained consistent in the numbers he chooses.

In an interview with lottery officials, he noted that his two secret combinations consisted of the anniversaries and jersey numbers of his favorite Major League Baseball athletes. While the two sets of numbers had failed to yield him the big money for years, he has now succeeded in scoring a huge prize.

For context, Glenn correctly matched all five white ball numbers in the November 19 drawing. Unfortunately, he didn’t nail the sixth ball quite right leaving him only a ball away from the top prize. Still, he won the game’s second prize, which was $25,000 a year.

Lucky for Life allows winners to either take the annuity or cash out everything. The lump sum value of Glenn’s prize, which he opted to take, stood at $390,000. That means that the lucky player returned home $280,800 richer after taxes.

In his interview, Glenn confirmed that he has always been a dedicated player who has been “waiting for the dream.” He added that the prize came at a very crucial moment since he had been stressing for the last six months. Although the man regretted that he was one number away from “getting it all,” he called the prize a “blessing” that would allow him to pay off debt and refurbish his home.

In the meantime, the Kentucky Lottery will give $5,000 to Southland BP, which sold the winning ticket.

Jackpots Offer the Chance of a Lifetime

In other news, the Mega Millions jackpot just reached $541 million ahead of the next drawing. While no one has claimed the big prize for the last few drawings, it could very much become a great Christmas gift to another lucky player.

Elsewhere, a lottery player from South Australia won an AUD 4.8 million jackpot. The winner, however, has yet to come out and claim the life-changing sum.

Winning the jackpot is the chance of a lifetime. As a result, some people might be tempted to cheat the law in an attempt to get rich. This was the case for a Hearne woman who was arrested for allegedly stealing a $5 million jackpot ticket.
