A man at a Las Vegas casino became an immediate danger to others and himself after pouring gasoline on the floor and threatening to set himself on fire
A bizarre incident occurred on the casino floor of Binion’s Gambling Hall, after a man entered the premises, and managed to pour gasoline on the gaming floor, threatening to set himself on fire.
Man Threatens to Set Fire to Casino, Leaves Abruptly
He was later arrested outside the property and remained in jail as of the time of reporting. Identified as J.L, 30, the man reportedly committed the dangerous stunt late last week and has already been charged with terrorist threat and domestic battery.
J.L.’s motivation was not immediately clear but the available evidence suggested that he was distraught and had shown premeditation in his actions. A video sent to someone J.L. knew, said the police, showed him filling the gasoline in a milk bottle.
When he arrived on the scene, he threatened to set the entire property on fire, but things took a different turn. J.L. quickly gave up on his supposed plan of setting everything ablaze and left the building, accompanied by a woman.
But just because he had vacated the casino’s premises did not stop him from continuing with his unhinged behavior. Once on Fremont Street, he started threatening pedestrians with a knife and screwdriver, but no one got hurt.
Police finally managed to apprehend him on Main Street and Bonanza Road. A bail has been set for his release at $50,000. He is due to appear in court on February 19. However, if he posts his bail in the meantime, he will have to wear an ankle monitor as per court order.
This is not the first time J.L. has been in trouble with the law. He was sentenced to six months back in 2023 when he was arrested for burglary. No word has come about the woman who was seen leaving the casino with J.L. nor what her role in the entire situation was.
